About this event

This story is told by Chris Munns, a submariner himself for 20 years experience, and once Director of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum. It avoids technical detail, focusing instead on four submariners whose remarkable exploits were prime examples of the courage and determination that helped establish the ‘can-do’ culture of the submarine service that has been the bedrock of its reputation. The talk will last for about 40 minutes, with time for questions at the end.

Wheelchair access is at the rear of the building. Only Blue Badge holder cars can park there (details must be given when booking). General parking is opposite the entrance, but vehicle details are still needed on booking to park there. Refreshments will be available at the Bar before and after the event.

Please arrive at least 15-20 minutes before start time to allow for parking, gate security clearance, entering the Clubhouse, perhaps buying a drink at the bar, and getting comfortably seated in the talk room.

Heritage Open Days is England's biggest heritage festival, this year on 12th - 21st September. It celebrates our fantastic history, architecture and culture; offering people the chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences - all of which are FREE to explore.

After a first pilot in Gosport proved a success, Heritage Open Days was established in 1994 as England’s contribution to the European Heritage Days.

We welcome people from near and far to join in and explore the wealth of heritage in Gosport; our little town with a big history.
