One day course
In this introductory course you will learn about the equipment that you will need (telescopes, mounts, autoguiders etc), imaging with DSLRs, polar-alignment, CCD techniques (calibration etc) and image processing.
The course is being presented by the well-known astro-imager Nik Szymanek. Nik is a prolific astro-imager and is particularly known for his deep sky CCD images and his contributions to education and public outreach. He collaborates with professional astronomers and works with big telescopes located at La Palma in the Canary Islands, and at the Hawaii Islands. His imaging and image-processing abilities brought him the Amateur Achievement Award of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific in 2004. He publishes his pictures in astronomical magazines and has written a book on astrophotography called Infinity Rising.
Nik will be showing you some of these images and there will be plenty of time for questions. He will keep the course flexible and invite participation from the attendees. The price of the day includes tea/coffee during morning and afternoon and buffet lunch of sandwiches and cake.

Great day, course given by a very keen astrophotographer. Gave me a good insight into this area. Many thanks.
Really great course perfectly suited to me as someone who is an SLR user and wants to expand to astro-imaging and learn how to process the images. Nik is a great tutor with a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for an enjoyable day.
A worthwhile day. Thank you, Nik
