Interested in the Radio Mast Site Development? Update, presentation & answers
Guest Speaker: Johanne Thomas
Johanne Thomas works for Urban&Civic, the master developer behind the RadioStation Rugby Urban Extension. She has been working for the past 18 months to promote the future vision for the new development, to broker linkages and partnerships across the Borough and keep local people informed and involved.
Known locally as “the mast site”, the 1,200 acre site on the eastern edge of Rugby is now being transformed into a new community and will grow over the next 15 years to a development of 6,200 homes, schools, a new link road into Rugby, health provision and local amenities. Recently named Houlton after the first transatlantic voice call from Rugby Radio Station in the 1920s, the site has a fascinating history and plays an important part in the heritage of the town. Work is well underway on the first phase and homes will be coming out of the ground over the coming months. Johanne will present on the future vision for Houlton, what is happening at the moment and how the site’s heritage has underpinned its future.
