I have cancelled or postponed all of the classroom based training days for the foreseeable future. As an alternative I am offering SketchUp training over the internet on a 1-1 basis.

There are three types of training on offer:

3hr training: specifically for those who want to get up and running with SketchUp (see below)

2hr training: you need training and advice on specific topics, but 1hr is not enough

1hr training: ideal if you are familiar with SketchUp but need specific help to solve a problem or progress

SketchUp: 2hr personal training

This training session is completely flexible. I will help on whatever topic you want. The 2hr session is intended for those who would like in depth training on a particular topic, where 1hr is not enough or you would like to cover several areas in one session.

Examples of subjects that you might want support and guidance on:

Review of general SketchUp modelling techniques, general help to improve

How to approach and model specific objects

Terrain and changes in level

How best to use Layout

Creating professional documentation and drawings

How to create construction detailing in SketchUp

Advanced modelling techniques (eg organic shapes)

Plugins for Landscape design, which ones to get and how to use them

Fixing problems: sorting out problems and help projects progress

How does training over the internet work?

I use Zoom software. You may have heard a lot about it recently. It was developed several years ago as a platform for holding classrooms and meetings over the internet. It can accomadate everything from a 1-1 teaching session to a +100 attendees. You do not need to download any software; simply follow the link that you recieve a few minutes before the training is scheduled to start. I will explain the controls and how you can see my screen and share your own, in the first few minutes.

Can the trainer see my house/ office?

It can be helpful to see each others faces during training. You may want to consider what is behind you and prepare for the training by repositioning your seat/ which way the camera points. If you do not want to be visible to the tutor then you can deactivate your computer's camera to maintain privacy.

What do I need?

- Laptop/PC/Mac of your choice

- SketchUp Pro installed. If you are downloading SketchUp specifically for this training then do so about 24hrs in advance, ensure that it is loaded and that you can open it. SketchUp comes with an inital 30day trial and it is useful to use this time to practice with after training before you have to commit

- 3 Button mouse (NOT the “magic” mouse by Apple)

- Your power lead and extension cable

Do I need to download and software?

No. The tutor will "host" the event so there is nothing to do except follow the link that will be sent to you.

Do I need to take notes?

No. An advantage of online training is that the sessions will be recorded. This means that you can review and replay any part of the training. The recording can take a few days to be processesed and a link will be sent for you to access and download the file.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets will only be refunded if attendance is cancelled more than 7days from the event. There will be a £15 adminisation fee for all cancellations.

Tickets cannot be transferred to other events. Full refunds will be given should the event have to be cancelled for any reason.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, tickets will not be sent out prior to this event.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, your ticket can be transferred to a colleague/ friend. You must advise us of who is replacing you.

What if I can’t make any of the dates listed?

Please contact me if you have a specific need or would like training on days/ times different to those specified. I can be flexible and evenings and weekends are possible.
