Event description
1-2-1 sessions with Lisa Slominski, an American curator, writer and cultural worker

About this event

Lisa can help expand and explore ideas with artists around inclusivity and accessibility in creative practices. She can be a resource and sounding board for artists with collaborative, participatory and/or curatorial aspects to their practice interested in expanding their collaborators and/or audience. She would also be excited to talk through ideas of specific projects.

Lisa Slominski is an American curator, writer and cultural worker based in East London. She advocates for neurodiversity in the contemporary art current discourse, and the historical framework and placement of artists considered ‘self-taught’ or ‘outsiders’. In 2020, she co-founded the inclusive international curatorial platform Art et al. that focuses on international commissions and collaboration between arts professionals with and without disability. Nonconformers, her first art history book on self-taught artists and artists coming from unexpected circumstances, will be published in 2022 by Yale University Press. Lisa is dedicated to providing a curatorial voice of diversity and inclusivity within the contemporary art context.

SPACE Advice Bureau is a SPACE artist initiatives programme, providing free advice and guidance to all members of the SPACE community. Launched during the pandemic in 2020 in response to your requests and suggestions in the Tenant Survey, this programme includes one-to-one mentoring, webinars, coaching and peer-to-peer sessions to support you in developing your artist practice.
