This is a professional development training course that is ideal for mediators, legal practitioners, conflict resolution specialists, and those working in high-stakes environments.
Dave Walker MBE will teach the Permission to Share method, a transformative approach to effective conflict resolution.
Dave has been mediating since 1985 and is an accomplished high-conflict mediator and trainer, has featured in TV programmes about mediation, and regularly lectures and presents on the topic nationally and internationally.
Dave was awarded an MBE in 2007 for his outstanding contribution to mediation.
Recently, Dave presented at the Civil Justice Council's 13th National Forum and at the Civil Mediation Council's Conference about alternative dispute resolution and the Permission to Share method.
This methodology enables mediators to deliver succinct, neutral summaries of clients' perspectives, facilitating resolution.
The Permission to Share method can be applied to:

- Workplace Disputes & Employment Law
- Schools, Teachers and Parents
- Family Law – Divorce & Separation
- Complex Cases Involving High Conflict, Hate Crimes, or Anti-Social Behavior
- Gang-Related Disputes, Including Homicide & Violence
- Restorative Justice & Group Facilitation in Legal Contexts
Dave’s structured program blends theoretical foundations with practical, real-world application and participants will gain the skills needed to integrate the Permission to Share approach into their professional practice.
What to Expect During the Day:
Arrivals from 9.30am for a 10am start.
AM: Foundations of Permission to Share
- Understanding the theory and context behind the Permission to Share model
- Evaluating the pros and cons of Uninterrupted Speaking Time (UST) vs. Permission to Share (PTS)
- Review of case studies in which UST and PTS have been successfully applied
- Practical demonstrations of both individual and joint meetings using the Permission to Share approach
PM: Application and Skill-Building
- Key questions for mediators when utilising the Permission to Share method
- Hands-on role-playing to practise implementation
- Live feedback and troubleshooting of real-world challenges
- Opportunity for participants to address specific questions or case queries
The course finishes at 5pm.
6 CPD points are available upon completion of this training
Light refreshments will be available throughout the session.
