Relational and Restorative Processes:
An Anti-Bullying Strategy
Discover how relational and restorative processes provide an effective, flexible range of strategies to prevent and respond to bullying. Of the 27 approaches schools reported using to respond to bullying, restorative practices led the list as the most effective proactive approach and the second most effective reactive approach in both primary and secondary settings, with an 84% success rate at stopping physical, verbal, relational and cyber bullying.
This one day workshop aims to:
- give participants an understanding of relational and restorative processes
- explore different types of and extent of bullying behaviour
- demonstrate effective strategies for managing different aspects of bullying behaviour
- guidance on helping young people take responsibility for their own actions and appropriately challenge bullying behaviour
These strategies build stronger communities which are safer, more supportive and have fewer behavioural issues.
Participants will learn how to use relational and restorative processes to effectively engage young people and their parents on a range of bullying issues including cyberbullying, homophobic bullying and girls’ disagreements.
The course consists of a mixture of theoretic and practical activities which are further enhanced with a student workbook and other course materials. The workshop is delivered by a highly experienced practitioner.
The day runs from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Registration 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.)
