If the average person were to be asked what LinkedIn is, the likelihood is that they would say it is a job site.  Yet recruitment has never been a top three industry on LinkedIn, and is not a top three in any city in the UK!  LinkedIn’s research shows that 80% of people are on LinkedIn for professional use, but what sort of use does this mean?  Of course there are the obvious things like networking, sales and word of mouth, but then there are more creative purposes used by procurement, researchers, analysts and even spies (yes, LinkedIn has trained spies!). 

Come along to this session and learn about all the things you can do with LinkedIn.  Prepare to have your perception reset of how to think about LinkedIn and the value you can get from it easily and most often without even paying.

FAQs

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes.  There is onsite car parking which is free to use.  Access to the car park is via St Andrew's Road (northbound).  A campus map can be found here.

What refreshments will be on offer?

Tea and coffee will be provided.

What is the refund policy for paid tickets?

We normally operate a two-week (ie 14 day) cut-off date for ticket cancellations leading to a refund.

How do you use the personal information I provide when registering?

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is a data controller, registered with the Information Commissions Office as required under the Data Protection Act 1998.  The CIPD is committed to protecting your privacy and will not share your personal information with third parties without your permission.  However, when entering in an event that is advertised on the Eventbrite website you will be consenting to your information being passed to the Event Organiser for them to use for the purposes of organising and running the event.  CIPD may also wish to process your personal information in connection with a variety of activities which may include the marketing and promotion of our services and the administration of files and records.  CIPD will only process your data in accordance with current data protection legislation.  The Event Organiser undertakes not to share that information with third parties.

What are the implications for me of witholding consent for the Event Organiser to use my personal data in the way described above?

The decision about whether or not to withold consent is an entirely individual one.  However, if you withold consent then you will be counted in the overall number of people attending the event for which you have signed up, but your name will be excluded from the participant list that is sent to the Event Co-ordinator for registration purposes on the night.
