About this event

10 years of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act - A Personal Reflection

A conversation with Jane Davidson

Cardiff Business School is proud to host a special event featuring Jane Davidson, author of Futuregen: Lessons from a Small Country, and key architect of the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, to reflect on the legacy and future of this groundbreaking piece of legislation.

This session will explore, from Jane’s perspective, how the Act came to be, its impact over the past decade, and what needs to happen next to embed its principles more deeply into our institutions, communities, and business practices.

Jane will offer insights into how the Act has influenced policy, education, and civic life in Wales and beyond, and will challenge us to consider the role we can all play in creating more just, inclusive, and sustainable futures. The talk will be chaired by Professor Tim Edwards, with a response from Professor Rachel Ashworth.

This event is part of Cardiff University’s commitment to futures thinking, as outlined in Our Future, Together, and aims to build capacity and understanding across disciplines. It is open to staff, students, and members of the wider business community.

Join us for this inspiring and timely conversation with one of Wales’ most influential voices in sustainability and public policy.

Manylion y Digwyddiad

Mae Ysgol Busnes Caerdydd yn falch o gynnal digwyddiad arbennig gyda Jane Davidson, awdur Futuregen: Lessons from a Small Country, ac un o brif sylfaenwyr Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau'r Dyfodol (Cymru) 2015, i fyfyrio ar etifeddiaeth a dyfodol y ddeddfwriaeth arloesol hon.

Bydd y sesiwn hon yn trin a thrafod, o safbwynt Jane, sut y daeth y ddeddf i fod, ei heffaith dros y degawd diwethaf, a'r hyn sydd angen digwydd nesaf i ymgorffori ei hegwyddorion yn ddyfnach yn ein sefydliadau, ein cymunedau ac arferion ein busnesau.

Bydd Jane yn rhoi cipolwg ar sut mae'r ddeddf wedi dylanwadu ar bolisïau, addysg a bywyd dinesig yng Nghymru a thu hwnt, a bydd hi’n ein herio ni i ystyried y cyfraniad y gallwn ni i gyd ei wneud wrth greu dyfodol mwy cyfiawn, cynhwysol a chynaliadwy. Bydd y cyflwyniad yn cael ei gadeirio gan yr Athro Tim Edwards, gydag ymateb gan yr Athro Rachel Ashworth.

Mae'r digwyddiad hwn yn rhan o ymrwymiad Prifysgol Caerdydd i feddwl am y dyfodol, fel yr amlinellir yn Ein Dyfodol, Gyda'n Gilydd, a'i nod yw meithrin gallu a dealltwriaeth mewn nifer o ddisgyblaethau. Mae'n agored i staff, myfyrwyr, ac aelodau o'r gymuned fusnes ehangach.

Ymunwch â ni ar gyfer y sgwrs ysbrydoledig ac amserol hon gydag un o leisiau mwyaf dylanwadol Cymru ym maes cynaliadwyedd a pholisi cyhoeddus.
