As we celebrate 100 years since the passing of the Housing Act, join celebrated author and social historian, John Boughton, for a special talk about the Council houses which shaped so many of our lives. He will focus in particular on the work of RAH Livett - Leeds City Architect and Head of Housing who was responsible for Quarry Hill, Halton Moor and Saxton Gardens - and many other housing developments across Leeds.

John Boughton is a social historian whose blog Municipal Dreams is one of the most widely read and respected chronicles of council housing’s past and present. He talks on housing to a wide range of audiences and has supported a number of housing campaigns. He has previously published in the Historian and Labor History. He lives in London. He blogs at municipaldreams.wordpress.com.

This talk is part of the national Heritage Open Days festival, running from September 13-22. Over 130 free walks, talks, tours, performances and activities wil be held throughout Leeds. See https://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/visiting to find what other exciting events are planned.
