'100 years of Public Housing' with John Boughton and Owen Hatherley St Panc...
Event Information
Description
Join Owen Hatherly and John Boughton in this fascinating Panel Discussion on '100 years of Public Housing' at the Francis Crick Institute on Somers Town.
Somers Town/ St Pancras is a hidden gem of an area in which innovative social housing began, and each era can be found: from 1901 Wellesley House to the radical slum clearance of St Pancras Housing, to the ambition of the 1920s listed Ossuslton Estate, with its Viennese influence, to low-rise Oakshott Court by Peter Tabori representing the 'golden age' of Camden Council.
With Owen Hatherley, the Tribune's Culture Editor and John Boughton (Municipal Dreams: The Rise and Fall of Council Housing) facilitated by Professor of Cultural studies, Esther Leslie, this is an unmissable event if you are interested in culture, architecture and history of a unique area of London - and the future of social housing.
We will also be launching our publication on '100 years of Public Housing - Somers Town'.
