What Is Goblin Town?

Goblin Town is a whimsical fantasy weekend packed with fun, silliness, and creative chaos - a little bit LARP, a little bit theatre, a little bit festival - and designed for all ages.

Whether you're a seasoned goblin adventurer, a curious parent, or just a family looking for a unique weekend outdoors, everyone is welcome!

Explore the town, enjoy hands-on workshops, cheer on performers, or just soak in the goblin mischief. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Choose Your Own Goblin Journey

You can take part in Goblin Town in two main ways:

The Goblins - Want to jump into character and play all weekend? Join one of the goblin camps, gather coins, stir up shenanigans, and try to bribe your way into becoming mayor!

The Mortal Meanderers - Not into roleplay? No problem! You can still explore, trade coins, watch shows, try workshops, and enjoy the weird and wonderful world of Goblin Town without being a goblin yourself.

System?

A system in LARP is the format used to make decisions around Drama and Combat, everyone participating as a LARPer rather than a Mortal has a character, and some of the fun of the event is the chance to battle with your fellows.

Because of the nature of this event, we don't have a system per se. The idea of the game is to have fun and be as fun as possible, get hit with a weapon? It will probably hurt! Give the people playing healers a chance to do their thing!

Want to play a Healer? Fantastic! You can go over and roleplay patching up poor wounded goblins! Goblin medicine is somewhat... haphazard! Feel free to bandage, splint, pull out pretend saws etc!

Magic? Of course goblins can do magic! Sort off.... Goblin magic depends hugely on people believing they do magic. You have to sell it and the person on the receiving end has to be a good sport!

Combat?

Sometimes drama in the world of LARP is created by Combat, Combat is represented using specially created prop weapons, they are designed with the combat in mind and MUST come up to the necessary safety standards. The reasons for this is the same as why you can't bring a nerf gun or an airsoft gun to a paintball game, the assumed safety is created by making sure everyone is using the same level of equipment.

If you wish to get involved in Combat you must get your equipment checked by one of our wandering town council. or at the Guard Camp and do a quick Combat tutorial, if it turns out that you have brought something unsutable, we will do our best to lend you something more appropriate.

The camps may be invaded by smells orcs and other nerdowells, particularly after the mortals have gone home.

For LARPers & Roleplayers

Want to go deeper into the Goblin Town storyline? You’re welcome to play a character and engage in all the messy politics of goblin governance - including bribes, backstabbing, and interpretive dance diplomacy.

There’s no strict LARP system - just a shared sense of fun, playfulness, and common-sense safety. Foam weapons must be safety-checked before use.

Does everyone get coins for goblin shenanigans?

Yes! And Everyone can become mayor! They can use the coins to sign onto workshops, to get onto Quests, to bribe guards or other factions, to gather other Goblins to your cause or all manor of fun and frollics.

So you get ten with each ticket and you can use them to take part in workshops, or just pay goblins for their fun.

How is the event for disability?

Sadly the site (though it does have disabled toilets) is not great terrain for people with movement difficulties, being a series of fields and woods, though the paths are clear. We have also organised a quite area so that those that wish to step back from the crowds and take some downtime can do so.
