About this event

SPF is based on the philosophy of non-violent resistance (NVR) and it has been applied in many different ways. It is an approach that can be used when parents are faced with challenging behaviour and helps to look at building stronger relationships within the family. It will give you the opportunity to explore and learn new ways of responding to your child, help you to think about the presence you have with your child and look at your approach with you child, rather than focusing on rewards and consequences as with other programmes. This is an 7-week programme with each session lasting 2 hours. It is aimed at parents of children 10 and upwards.

The reasons you may be invited will be varied but could be down to concerns you may have around your child’s behaviour, anxiety and your relationship with your child. There may be many reasons why.

The programme will be run as a group and you will have lots of opportunities to talk and explore ideas with other parents and carers alongside hearing more about the key pillars of NVR.

Week one will be an opportunity to find out more about the programme and tell you what is ahead. You will have a chance to meet the other parents and the team that will be running the group.

We have received very positive feedback form parents attending NVR groups and who have talked about the positive difference it makes.
