Responding to Domestic Abuse Perpetrators

About this event

As part of Restart Pilot, this series of webinars and trainings are free and available to any professional working across the 5 borough sites to help increase knowledge and confidence in working with domestic abuse perpetrators. The Drive Partnership, Respect, and DAHA have developed these sessions in response to feedback from front line workers across the sites.

A series of webinars will be on:

o Working with perpetrators (Drive Partnership & Respect)

o Responding to counter allegations (Drive Partnership & Respect)

o Confidence in discussing perpetrator programs with families (Respect)

o Unconscious biases & working with perps (Respect)

o Record Keeping & Language (DAHA)

Additionally, ½ Day Workshops will be held on:

o General working with perpetrators (Drive Partnership & Respect)

o Responding to counter allegations/ Respect Toolkit (Drive Partnership & Respect)

Restart provides early intervention for perpetrators causing harm in families working with Children’s Social Care (CSC), to prevent continued abuse. The pilot takes a multi-agency approach, which includes working with housing teams to develop new accommodation pathways and supports CSC and housing.

This pilot project is a partnership between MOPAC, Respect, SafeLives, Social Finance, Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) and Cranstoun and operating in 5 London boroughs:

  • Camden
  • Croydon
  • Havering
  • Sutton
  • Westminster

The support and housing needs of each family is considered on an individual basis and is dependent on all support, housing options and pathways for survivors and their children, including the option to relocate due to domestic abuse. Therefore, it does not replace or diminish the lifesaving role of safe alternative accommodation for survivors and children, including the vital need for refuge accommodation.
