The project aims to develop an understanding of:
ü The value of Apprenticeships
To Young People; Schools and colleges; Employers; and Government as aworthy, stand-alone qualification and credible route for young people
ü The process for taking on an Apprentice
How; the benefit; the investment
The aims, if successful, will lead to increased engagement between education and businesses. The project is based on the recommendations in ‘The Apprenticeship Journey’ report, which the FSB published in November 2012. Key findings in the report were that:
- Only 1/3 of FSB members work with their local schools or colleges.
- Many small businesses do not currently have a good understanding of the Apprenticeship scheme and what it could mean for them.
