Clinical Psychologist and a `Group Work Practitioner of Group Analysis.I have particular interest in depth psychology - both  Jungian and Group Analytic.The workshops I run often are exploring stories and myths in groups as a way to creatively connect and examine individual and collective psychology; providing a choice of teaching spaces, seminars and groups where people can reflect on life.The reflective spaces I provide can be either “here-and-now” events where participants study what is going on in the moment, paying particular attention to unconscious dynamics and looking at the group-as-a-whole, rather than intrapersonal or interpersonal dynamics. Or events, where the group is invited to reflect on their experiences regarding a particular piece of material: such as a group discussion on a piece of literature, or, a participant sharing a work situation to be thought about together as a group.It is not unusual that learning is transformational in terms of how participants look at themselves, their roles, their groups, and organisations they are part of.These reflective spaces are for anyone wanting to experience in action how through the group‘s discussion, meeting our reactions, our connection to symbols, imagery and association along the way, we might enable each other to better understand ourselves, each other and some of the personal and collective stories we all live.Unless explicitly stated for a specific event, no particular background or experience is necessary to participate.

In a world where truth often wears the thinnest of threads and has become something that is often considered to be more subjective than objective, Hans Christian Andersen's "The Emperor's New Clothes" remains a poignant tale that speaks volumes about human behavior and societal norms.In this two hour workshop we will examine some of the layers of Andersen's fairytale, using it as a vehicle to explore deep psychological themes that resonate with our modern lives. <h4>Workshop Structure</h4> <ul><li>A reading of the story</li></ul> <ul><li>Presentation</li></ul>Large group dynamics, drawing on the insights of key theorists. Vamık D. Volkan work examines how group identity can lead to societal divisions and how leaders manipulate these for power. Wilhelm Reich's "The Mass Psychology of Fascism" delves into how sexual repression and family dynamics foster authoritarianism. Earl Hopper ideas introduce us to the "social unconscious" and "mental black holes" to understand group behavior.Additionally we'll explore some the symbols, archetypes, and imagery within Andersen's tale to further illuminate these psychological concepts <ul><li>Following the story and presentation, the group will spend the remaining time in the session reflecting on the presented material. Experiencing in action how through the group ‘s discussion, meeting our reactions, our connection to symbols, imagery and association along the way, we might enable each other to better understand this way of formulating and deepening our connection to some of the stories we all live.</li></ul> Why Attend?This workshop provides an opportunity to look at a well-known story through the eyes of psychoanalysis, offering insights into human behavior, group psychology, and the power dynamics that shape our societies.
