About this event

Join Marion from the Ironbridge Coracle Trust for a fascinating short walk from the Iron Bridge and Old Coracle Shed, along the Wharfage to the Coracle Trust exhibition at the Green Wood Centre in Coalbrookdale. You will be shown points of interest along the Coracle Trail relating to the Coracle Men of Ironbridge and hear many of the stories they told.

We stop at the Tommy Rogers sculpture and sloping beach by the Museum of the Gorge where the coracle trust volunteers will show you how to paddle a coracle. The water here is very safe and slow and you will be attached to your friendly, experienced instructor by rope, so you will be safe and won’t float away down river. If you want to have a go, bring a towel, change of clothes and waterproof sandals, just in case! No obligation to take part, you are welcome to sit and watch the others in the group.

We then walk to the Green Wood Centre where you will have a guided tour of the family friendly Coracle Trust exhibition in the New Coracle Shed.

Embers café is on site and you can buy lunch there or relax and enjoy a picnic lunch on the grassy bank in front of the New Coracle Shed.

We then walk back along the Wharfage to the Iron Bridge.
