About this Event

Christmas Decorations Origami Workshop

For centuries, origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, has been a powerful technique for transforming two dimensional sheets into beautiful three-dimensional sculptures. Join us for this exciting and fun Christmas art workshop with Kyla McCallum to create two or three decorations. Papers and ribbon can be provided or bring your own along. This workshop is open to all UG physics students and teaching staff.

Please book your place by the 30 November 2020 and joining instructions will be sent to you by email.

Foldability is run by Kyla McCallum, a Scottish paper artist and set designer who has been working with origami for over 10 years. Kyla creates bespoke installations, artworks, products, set design, paper art and sculptures inspired by origami and geometry, from her studio in East London.

Foldability has become known for creating precision formed designs which are visually unique, with an element of hand-craftsmanship. For large scale commissions, Kyla collaborates with a diverse team of creatives including paper artists, engineers, art directors, photographers and fabricators, depending on the skills required for the project. Kyla also runs paper art and origami workshops for brands, universities, schools and charities, sharing her passion for origami and paper art. Kyla discovered her fascination with origami and geometry whilst studying in Cologne in 2007 and launched Foldability in 2013 after graduating from the Glasgow School of Art. https://www.foldability.co.uk/

This Christmas Origami Workshop is preceeded by a Christmas physics lecture on the mechanics and application of origami . Please see the seperate event invitation to book your place!
