About this event

Do you struggle to bring your organisation's incredible impact to life? Are the spine-tingling moments hidden behind jargon and numbers? Is talk of delivery models, service provision and baseline data leaving your audiences cold?

If you answered yes to any of those questions then you need our Impact Storytelling 101. Great storytelling starts with understanding how and why stories work and knowing what the key ingredients are. After this session you'll know what steps to take to tell incredible stories that influence your audiences.

We will cover:

The science of storytelling

What happens to our brains when we hear a story? How can one story ignite a movement when big numbers have no cut through? Is simplifying complex problems disrespectful? We will introduce you to research that answer these questions.

What makes good impact storytelling?

Not all good stories are good impact stories. This session will show you what the specific ingredients of an impact story are and how the stories work alongside the numbers. You will come away with simple tools for identifying and structuring powerful impact stories.

Story ingredients

In this section we look at the key ingredients of powerful real life storytelling – character, voice, context and structure.

Securing your story pipeline

What networks, systems and processes do you need in place to support your storytelling? You will come away with ideas for planning and relationship-building activities that will keep the stories flowing.

This course works as a standalone introduction to impact storytelling or as part one of our storytelling masterclass.
