About this event

Nordic walking is a fun and easy outdoor activity which uses two lightweight poles to build on your natural walking. It is especially good for women as it strengthens bones, helps stabilise joints, and boosts hormones that help mental health. Plus, you can burn 20-46% more calories than regular walking without even getting out of breath!

During this walk you will learn the Nordic walking basics then enjoy a sociable stroll around Bristol harbour, finishing at YHA Bristol on the harbourside for refreshments.

Vicky Welsh will be your instructor. She is a National Nordic walking coach and has been teaching people to Nordic walk for over 15 years.

What should I wear?

We’ll be walking outdoors mostly on firm ground. Trainers or similar comfy shoes are ideal. Wear clothes suitable for the weather conditions and make sure you can swing your arms freely.

will we still walk if it's raining?

Yes, we’ll still be Nordic walking if it’s raining. After all, if we only walked in dry weather here in Bristol, we’d barely get out at all! The only thing that’ll stop us is if the wind’s howling or there’s thunder and lightning overhead. Otherwise, it’s game on—rain or shine!
