Tying in with the 600th anniversary, this is an art lover’s guide to 1425. Louise Halfpenny will talk about what artists were up to when the Guildhall Library was born. Her presentation will include Lorenzo’s Ghiberti’s ‘Gates of Paradise’, a life-size cast of which can be seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Painting, architecture, sculpture and even armour will be covered. Most of the artworks featured can be seen for free, leaving you inspired to go and see them for yourself.
