About this event

Join us for an Orange Beak Evening with award-winning children’s book author, illustrator, and surface designer, Phoebe Wahl.

Phoebe’s work focuses on themes of comfort, fantasy, and intimacy with nature and one another. She grew up unschooled in Washington state and credits her free-range childhood in the Northwest for much of her inspiration and values.

Phoebe's first children’s book, Sonya’s Chickens was the recipient of the Ezra Jack Keats Book Award for New Illustrator, and her most recent picture book, Little Witch Hazel was an Indie Bestseller, Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Title, as well as being named one of the Best Books of 2021 by BookPage, BookRiot, Booklist and the Chicago Public Library. Her other titles include The Blue House, Backyard Fairies, Phoebe’s Diary.

Phoebe lives in Bellingham, Washington, where she occasionally teaches at illustration Western Washington University, and can often be found rambling in the forest with her family.

We can’t wait to hear about Phoebe’s inspirations, career, process and materials. Following the talk there will be a Q&A opportunity.

The event will be held online via ZOOM - the link will be sent to you directly via email on the day of the talk around 5pm UK time.

All tickets are £16 INCLUSIVE of the booking fee - and are non-refundable.

The event is LIVE - but buying a ticket will give you access to a recording which will be available to view back for one week afterwards. You will be sent a link for this the day after the event.
