Cosmeston Lakes
Lavernock Road Penarth CF64 5UY United KingdomDescription
Project description
The country park has a variety of habitats
covering over 100 hectares of land and water, some areas designated
a Site of Special Scientific Interest protecting the rare and diverse
plant and animal species.
Cosmeston Lakes and Country Park requires constant volunteers support to maintain the Lake area. The help of volunteer groups is very extremely well received.
Volunteers for this project would be predominately required to help lay and resurface an existing path. The footpath is about 200 to 300 metres long. The volunteers would remove some of the existing path also cutting back vegetation in the surrounding area. The path would then need to be relayed in chippings to make the surface level and good again. In addition the team of volunteers could rub down and repaint benches and tables within the park area as required.
Tasks involved in the activity will include some digging, barrowing and tipping chippings, basic gardening skills, cutting back vegetation and basic DIY.
The volunteers will need very basic DIY and gardening skills. Some physical activity will be required around the site on the day to include cutting vegetation, shovelling etc.
Clothing to wear: Volunteers will need to wear robust outdoor clothing and footwear. Waterproofs may also possibly be required.
Materials: All tools and equipment will be provided by the project. There will be no fundraising required by the volunteers.
