150th People's Friend

Thursday 12 September, 5:30pm

Established in 1869, the People's Friend magazine holds a special place in the popular literary culture of Scotland. As it celebrates its 150th anniversary, the magazine is now the subject of academic research by Charlotte Lauder, PhD student at the University of Strathclyde and National Library of Scotland. At this in-conversation event, Charlotte will introduce her research and discuss the important role of women in the magazine's history alongside Professor Juliet Shields and current People's Friend editor Angela Gilchrist.
