Wealden Business Breakfast
Tackling Business Crime and Cyber Security
FSB is running a breakfast with a difference alongside Wealden District Council, with some key speakers on this highly important business issue.
Speaker: Katy Bourne, Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC)
Katy Bourne’s job is to hold the Chief Constable of Sussex Police to account and ensure that the police focus on local priorities. Her plan is entitled ‘Working with local communities and partners to keep Sussex safe’. Hear how this is working for business and participate in the ‘Q and A’ session.
Speaker: Detective Inspector Andy Haslam, Head of Cyber Crime Unit (CCU) & Economic Crime Unit (ECU), Surrey and Sussex Police
The National Crime Agency (NCA) reported in 2016 that cybercrime has now surpassed all other forms of crime in the United Kingdom. Cyber security is a key focus of the National Security Strategy and estimates that cybercrime costs the economy £27 billion a year. The NCA highlights the need for stronger law enforcement and business partnership to fight cybercrime. Hear how Surrey and Sussex Police are working to address this issue.
FSB research shows 42 per cent of FSB members have been a victim of cybercrime in the last 12 months, costing an average of £4,000 per business.
