Welcome to the HEFi Festival 2021

Professor Kathy Armour will welcome you to the Festival 2021. In her introduction Kathy will reflect on our experiences of teaching in the last academic year, and on the theme of this Festival week: exploring new ways to support staff who teach to ensure they are equipped for the challenges ahead, while also retaining our focus on the personal, intellectual and pedagogical rewards of teaching. At its heart, great teaching is personal and relational; as Maxine Greene put it “Part of Teaching is helping people create themselves”. Post-pandemic, this mission is both more important and more challenging. It is timely, therefore, to consider how best we can support staff for ‘next generation’ university teaching.
