Today, violence will affect millions of women and girls around the world. It’s an appalling violation of their human rights, and it holds them back from reaching their full potential.
This November is the '16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence’ when, every year, women’s rights campaigners come together to demand an end to violence against women. ActionAid supporters are holding events and activities across the UK as part of the Fearless campaign to end violence against women and girls.
ActionAid organiser Mark is coordinating a Fearless Women Walk around Peterborough to celebrate the women who have shaped Peterborough. It will be an opportunity to remember some of the almost forgotten voices of Peterborough women.
- The walk will start on East Station Road, at the corner on London Road
- We will walk into the town centre and finishing at Peterborough Cathedral.
- The walk will be about 1.5 miles and should last about an hour (or slightly longer, depending on how quickly we walk!)
We will be walking in the footsteps of strong women in Peterborough, and will be joined on the day by Jessica Njui, a women's rights activist from Kenya who will share stories of her work to support women and girls who have experienced violence in Kenya.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes.
