During 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, from 25th November to 10th December 2016, the UN is calling for everyone to come together and take action to end gender-based violence. Across the world buildings will be lit up orange to #orangetheworld for 16 Days. People will be making the #whiteribbon Pledge to show their support. And Equation is raising awareness of the 1 in 4 women in the UK and Nottingham who will still experience domestic abuse in their lifetime.
To celebrate the campaign, we’re running a creative writing competition in association with Waterstones. The theme is any non-fiction or fiction piece relating to gender. To find out more and enter the competition, please see the campaign website.
A number of entries within each category will be performed at this special event at Waterstones, Nottingham City Centre on 26th November. There will be gift vouchers and other prizes on offer for overall winners. We would love entrants, friends and family and the public to attend this special event. Tickets will be limited, so please register in advance.
