16 - Pride in Pillgwenlly - Newport - 30 Volunteers
Fri 12 May 2017, 09:00 – 17:00 BST
This community group was established in 2014 with the aim of unifying the area of Pillgwenlly, which is located near the city center of Newport.
The group is comprised solely of volunteers, working wherever possible to improve the area, increasing pride in both the locality and it’s residents. With over 50 events organised to date to improve various issues, from fly tipping, landscaping, to overseeing and maintaining local events grounds, they are thrilled to have received four awards within the last 12 months alone.
The group would like employee volunteer support for a large scale clean-up which would take place on Give & Gain Day. Employee volunteers would work side by side with the groups regular volunteers to undertake tasks such as:
Painting over graffiti
Installing tyre planters
Clear up fly-tipping
Helping to maintain gardens for the elderly
The group typically has 30 - 40 regular volunteers and will scale up their plans depending on the number of employee volunteers available.
The group has all the ppe & tools required including gloves, hi viz jackets, litter pickers, bag holders etc.
Clean-ups usually start at 10am and finish at 2pm
The group will require adequate time to plan the activity and give notice to their own volunteers and as such there is a deadline of Monday 1st May for selecting this project.
