About this event

Arts • Orchestra

This concert is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ihor Shamo – a remarkable Ukrainian composer, whose lyrical genius was overshadowed for decades by censorship and politics. The programme will include Shamo’s Symphony for Strings, Flute Concerto, Aria from the Accordion Concerto, and songs arranged for string orchestra and voice – performed by the Culture Code Orchestra, with guest soloists including Sofia Ros (BBC Young Musician 2025, accordion) and Valeria (flute).

This event is part of our new series Echoes of Silence, which explores and revives the works of forgotten and unknown 20th-century Ukrainian composers. The evening will also be a charity concert in support of Dnipro Kids, a cause very close to our hearts. We would be honoured to have you join us for this special occasion, and to help us give new life to a voice that history tried to silence.
