** PLEASE NOTE, Scale will be free for everyone to visit on the first Sunday of each month. For those dates (5 September, 3 October etc.) you will not need to book and entrance to Scale will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

How much does it cost?

Entry to the Museum of Making is free however there is an admission fee to our special exhibition ‘Scale’, apart from the first Sunday of the month when admission is free on a first come, first served basis.

Adults - £4.50 or £4.95 with Gift Aid

Under 16’s – Free (under 14s must be accompanied by a paying adult)

Carers – Free

DM Friends/DM Prospect Members/Regular Volunteers/Art Pass/Museums Association/Students - £2.50 or £2.75 with Gift Aid (Membership card or valid photographic student ID to be shown with ticket on arrival)

Free entry on the first Sunday of the month on a first come first served basis (no booking required).

Do I need to book a ticket?

It is advisable to book your tickets in advance to help manage visitor numbers. This allows us to monitor the number of people who are within the exhibition and ensure you can enjoy your visit as much as possible.

How do I book a ticket?

Book your tickets here for entrance to see ‘Scale’. The exhibition runs to 28th November 2021 so please do not worry if you don't get to see it on your first visit!

Please arrive promptly and do not arrive at Scale before or after your 20 minute arrival slot. You are free to explore the rest of the museum as you wish.

How many tickets can I book?

Up to 15 tickets per order. Each person in the group must have their own individual ticket, including children. Under 14 's must be accompanied by an adult. Children must be supervised at all times.

Can I book tickets onsite at the Museum of Making?

To help manage visitor numbers, we recommend that you book online in advance of your visit, however if you chance turning up without a ticket, our staff will try and accommodate you but only if there is space. Please be aware that you may have to queue.

Do members need to book?

Yes, every visitor to Scale needs a timed entry admission ticket or has to be prepared to queue if the exhibition is full to its capacity. Members often have the first opportunity to book free tickets to special events and payable exhibitions. Please remember to bring your membership details with you.

I only want to visit your free museum. Can I do that?

Yes we offer a standalone entry to the Museum of Making which does not include entry to ‘Scale’ but will give you free access to all our other galleries. There is no need to book for this.

Do I need to book for the River Kitchen?

No, you just need to check the availability on the day. Opening times for the River Kitchen are:

Tuesday/Wednesday - food served 10.00-15.00, drinks served 10.00-16.00

Thursday - food served 10.00-17.00, drinks served 10.00-18.00

Friday - closed

Saturday - food served 10.00-14.00, drinks served 10.00-15.00

Sunday - food served 10.00-14.00, drinks served 10.00-15.00

I can no longer make the ‘Scale’ exhibition slot that I booked, can I get a refund?

All paid tickets are non-refundable and are non-transferable unless in the event of closure of the Museum of Making.

Do you have car parking?

Offsite parking is available nearby at the Assembly Rooms, Bold Lane and Chapel Street car parks and parking cards can be validated at the Museum of Making to give a discounted rate of £2.50 for a day.

There are 4 accessible parking bays on Silk Mill Lane which are for use by Blue Badge holders only.

Is the Museum of Making fully accessible?

We have level access and lifts to every floor. We also have 5 accessible toilets, 3 ambulant toilets and a changing place.

Are dogs allowed in the Museum of Making?

We allow assistance dogs only.

How do I book a school or larger group visit?
