About this Event
A never before seen selection of the reimagined and reinterpreted chairs, shown exclusively at Coal Drops Yard from 29th October - 1st November 2020.
About the project:
19 Chairs is a collaboration between two brothers and various creatives from all over the world that celebrates the objects we have become so familiar with during lockdown.
It is an ode to the chair. Using readily available materials, it is an exercise in designing with restrictions, and the creativity that drives us to redefine these limitations.
"Using 27mm square section timber, and 40mm wood screws, our challenge was to design and build a chair a day throughout lockdown. Each chair has now been delivered to a host of inspiring artists and designers from all corners of the creative industry, who have been asked to reinvent, reimagine or redesign their chair, with an older person in mind. The 19 reworked Chairs will be displayed at our main exhibition in December, coinciding with our online silent auction.”
