Event description

Description

This is essentially a fun, relaxed roundtable celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1968 Race Relations Act and 90th anniversary of the 1928 Representation Of The People Act 1928, which gave all men and women over 21 the equal right to vote, and an opportunity to explore history of British equalities and race laws, practice, and the British governments' and society's relationship with racism and equalities.

This free, relaxed, and family-friendly event is a forum for non-specialists to discuss any of the inter-sectional areas including how laws are made over a cup of tea and non-alcoholic drinks. There will be a quiz with prizes, the opportunity to play Parliament's EqualiTeas* tablecloth board game based on women's fight over the ages for suffrage, and the screening of excerpts from community historian Kwaku's 'Look How Far We've Come: Commentaries On British Society And Racism?' DVD.

Limited space - must pre-book
