Overview

FREE KS2 livestream with Mr Dilly + author Tom Moorhouse + Lucy Strange. World-building & story inspiration. 7-day replay available.

Celebrate National Storytelling Week with a fun online session for KS2 packed with imagination, creative writing sparks and story power.

Join Mr Dilly for a whole-class livestream inspired by this year’s theme: “Speaking Stories into Darkness” — how stories can help us face the unknown, be brave, and turn mysteries into adventures.

Special guests (LIVE): Tom Moorhouse & Lucy Strange
Tom is the author of Where the Dragon Waits, and Lucy Strange, author of The Storm and the Minotaur, The Secret of Nightingale Wood & more, will both join us live to talk about where story ideas come from, what they loved reading as a child, and how writers create worlds, characters, tension and hope.

Plus: world-building inspiration & draw-along
We’ll watch a short fantasy map-making tutorial by Kieran Larwood to kickstart ideas and help pupils invent their own story worlds. Plus a pre-recorded Cerberus draw-along with Thiago de Moraes — pupils will need paper and a pencil/pen.

What pupils will do

  • Explore world-building and simple creative writing tools
  • Hear directly from Tom and Lucy about their books, childhood reading and stories
  • Leave with a strong “story starter” to continue back in class
  • Join in a 'Guess the Story?' game with Tom, Lucy and Mr Dilly
  • Have fun with drawing along with Thiago de Moraes
  • Learn world-building map-making skills with Kieran Larwood

Date & time: Wednesday 4 February, 11:00am GMT
Replay: available for 7 days after the livestream
