Overview

Public consultation on the proposal to move Mount Vernon Cancer Centre’s specialist services to a new site by Watford General Hospital

What the consultation is about:

Cancer care should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live or their personal circumstances. Access to treatment and the outcome for patients in our area varies considerably. We want to change that.

We’re planning changes to specialised non-surgical cancer services provided at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre for adults in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, North London, East Berkshire and parts of Buckinghamshire. The centre is at risk of being unable to continue providing specialist treatment without significant changes, including moving services to an acute hospital site.

We’re seeking your views on proposed changes which would see the cancer centre run by University College London Hospitals (UCLH) from a new building next to Watford General Hospital with more services in other local hospitals and an expansion of chemotherapy at home. Your feedback on these proposals will shape the future of cancer treatment in your area.

The consultation runs from Monday, 19 January to Sunday, 29 March 2026.

Events are planned during the consultation at different times, on different days in different locations, face-to-face and online. You will be asked to register in advance to ensure the events are well managed to provide the best experience for everyone, and to make sure views are captured.

This event will focus on discussions around patient transport.
