Course Overview

This is the practical component of the IV Cannulation and Administration of Radiopharmaceuticals e-learning course. Before attending this virtual practical simulation session, you must have successfully completed the theory and knowledge module on our e-learning platform.

Delivered by The Christie PET-CT Academy’s specialist Clinical Skills team, this widely popular course teaches Radiographers and Technologists to perform IV cannulations and administer radiopharmaceuticals in a safe learning environment.

The course takes a blended learning approach that combines modules on our e-learning platform before attending a face-to-face simulation training assessment. The face-to-face aspect of the course can be conducted virtually or in person at The Christie in our state-of-the-art clinical training centre.

Learning outcomes

  • Learn to perform effective IV Cannulations and administer radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Understand vein and venous assessments.
  • Develop awareness of quality patient care and management, including complications, anaphylaxis, and ongoing care.

Intended Audience

Radiographers, Technologists, Clinical Assistants and Clinical Leads.

The IV Cannulation and Administration of Radiopharmaceuticals courses are repeated monthly. Due to the one-to-one nature of the practical course capacity is limited to three participants per virtual course and four per face-to-face course.
