Event description
Our 1st virtual conference to highlight the extensive clinical research effort at Hampshire Hospitals.

About this event

Join us for all or some of the day to hear about what clinical research is going on at our Trust, see how you could get involved, and discuss how we can make clinical research a part of every patient's journey. Each session will be facilitated, and aim to leave time for questions and answers at the end where possible. We will pre-record some sessions, and this will allow us to add subtitles in advance to improve accessibility. These will also be available afterwards on our YouTube channel.

Our Chief Executive Alex Whitfield will kick off our day, and then we will have some of the team who helped to deliver the incredibly important Urgent Public Health research studies. These have given us some of the answers about how best to treat COVID, and the team will talk to us about the process and outcomes of those studies. Dr. Claire Thomas will talking about our involvement in the SIREN study, and Dr Arthur Goldsmith about how we delivered the RECOVERY study.

Our collaboration with the University of Winchester, and some of the projects that have developed from that are up next.

We will start the afternoon with a panel to discuss 'How to make research a part of every patient's care plan?' You can either submit your questions in advance on your ticket, email to research.team@hhft.nhs.uk with the title - Vaccine Q&A, or ask during the session in the chat box.

We will have Prof. Saul Faust with us in the afternoon to talk about all things vaccine. Saul is the lead for many of the COVID vaccine trials that we are supporting in the Hampshire Research Hub, and will be leading a Q&A after his talk.

Marc Berry from QI will join us to discuss how research and QI complement each other, and Tony Mears will present some of the highlights from the Innovation day.

We are also going to have some of our clinicians who have developed and led their own research talk about their projects in two sets - one afternoon and one morning.

We're also going to have a virtual poster display to accompany the conference, so if you would like to know more about submitting a poster about clinical research activity at HHFT please email us on research.team@hhft.nhs.uk
