1st Response is Girlguiding's own first aid course. It will train you to provide first aid to members in emergencies - in or outside of your unit meeting place. The course was created specifically for members of Girlguiding and The Scout Association.

This course can accommodate 12 members, however we have reserved 15 spaces and will operate a waiting list of 3.

To take part in this course, you:

• must have already complete the full 1st Response course or an external course, and have it listed on your GO record.
• must have a qualification that has already expired (this is subject to the date your course expired and will be reviewed by the Region Office to see if you are eligible for the Refresher course) or is due to expire in the next 2 months
• be able to attend the second part of the training, which will be a practical observation of key techniques with your local 1st Response trainer. If you struggle to do the follow up, please contact the Region Office on northwesthq@girlguidingnwe.org.uk

You will:

• gain simple life-saving first aid skills that are relevant to your role.
• develop the confidence and skills required to cope with emergency and first aid situations.
• understand how to manage these emergencies.
