2 Day Canoe and Kayak Course in Bristol (including Paddle Power Qualification) beginners and improvers
For ages: 8-16
Aimed at beginner to improver level, two full days learning and improving paddling skills using both single person kayaks and Canadian-style open canoes. You will learn how to paddle forwards, sideways and backwards, and learn how to rescue yourself and others from the water, all whilst using games and challenges to keep the course fun!
Our qualified instructors will follow the Canoe England Paddlepower scheme which includes a booklet to record your progress, and is carefully designed to improve beginner skills and techniques. Levels 1,2 and 3
The course usually ends with a trip up Bristol's historic harbour towards the City Centre passing the SS Great Britain and other landmarks. By the end of the course, participants will have completed their Paddlepower Passport booklet, which is equivalent to a BCU 1 Star Award!
Format of the 2 Days:
This course is held over 2 consecutive days.
The meeting place will be: Pooles Wharf Activity Centre, Hotwell Road, BS8 4RU. (Next to the Grain Barge Floating Bar/ Restaurant)
Please bring: lunch and drink, full change of warm clothes and a towel including shoes (not sandals or flip flops) to wear on the water (old trainers are perfect).
Your child should arrive at Pooles Wharf between 9am-9:30am, where they will meet the instructor and the other participants before setting off for their activity at 9:45am.
When the session has ended at around 4pm the children will return to Pooles Wharf and wait to be picked up at 4:15pm. Parents/carers will be contacted if their child has not been collected by 4:30pm.
