This time the most southerly point of Devon, Prawle Point, is the venue for this ‘2-day Introduction to Dry Stone Walling’ course on the 12th and 13th July.

We will be working with Hornblende Schist, a type of metamorphic stone. Schist is rare in the county of Devon and unusual in formation. Often stones are cylindrical in shape and referred to as ‘sausage’ or ‘cigar’ stones, other shapes found are blocky yet rounded. When laid next to one another the stones form an unusual yet stunning wall.

During the course you will be taught the principles required to reconstruct a traditional double skin dry stone wall, without the use of mortar, or soil that will stand the test of time.

There are no facilities on-site so please bring everything that you need with you. If you wish to camp over there are many campsites within the vicinity. The local pub, ‘The Pig’s Nose’, is just up the road from the course venue.
