Mental Health First Aid Course

Join us for an informative and practical Mental Health First Aid Course at Wandsworth Town Hall (Room 140). This event is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide initial help to someone experiencing mental health problems or in a mental health crisis.

For any adult working in community and voluntary organisations across Wandsworth.

This is an in-person course on Tuesday 28 & Wednesday 29 October 2025 from 09:30 - 4.30 on both days. It will delve into various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. Led by an experienced professional, the course will provide insights into recognising the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, offering initial support, and guiding individuals towards appropriate professional help.

By attending this course, you will gain valuable tools to support your loved ones, colleagues, or community members who may be struggling with their mental health. The Mental Health First Aid Course is an opportunity to enhance your understanding, reduce stigma, and contribute to a mentally healthier environment.

Everyone who completes the course will receive:

• Membership of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders®

• A certificate of attendance stating they are a MHFAider®

• Access to an online MHFA manual, webinars and newsletters

• A workbook including some helpful tools to support their own mental health

• Three years of access to the MHFAider Support App® with 24/7 digital support

• The opportunity to complete RSPH Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid

Learning outcomes:

· An in-depth understanding of mental health and factors that affect well-being

· Practical skills to spot the triggers, signs and symptoms of poor mental health

· Confidence to reassure and support a person in distress through active listening

· Knowledge to signpost a person to professional and other supports to help with recovery

· Ability to communicate with improved mental health literacy

· Recognition of the importance of self-care

Teas, coffees will be provided. Please bring your own packed lunch and refillable water bottle.
