2 Days - The Oliver McGowan Train The Trainer – Tier 2
Welcome to a two-day immersive experience where you will dive into Tier 2 of the Oliver McGowan training! This in-person event is designed to empower you with advanced skills and knowledge to become a top-notch trainer. - Improve our understanding of learning disability and best practice in health and social care settings
- Enhance learners’ understanding of autism, good practice in health and social care settings and understand how this is supported by current legislation.
Learning Outcomes
Learning Disability Session (morning)
- Understand the lives and experiences of people with learning disabilities and recognise their strengths and contributions.
- Explore factors which impact on the quality of care and support of people with learning disabilities.
- Understand the key findings from the Learning from Lives and Deaths review (LeDeR)
- Know what reasonable adjustments are and how to make them.
Autism Session (afternoon)
- Understand why autism is described as an invisible condition
- Reflect on your own values and beliefs
- Recognise potential differences, strengths and challenges for autistic people
- Identify potential triggers for anxiety
- Identify reasonable adjustments and ways to adapt your practice
- Be familiar with legislation and resources for inclusive enabling services
Upon completion, participants will become approved trainers via Health Education England - Oliver's Campaign and receive a unique PIN to deliver this training. However, they must still collaborate with trained and approved co-trainers to deliver the Oliver McGowan Tier 2 Mandatory training effectively.
