Details of session

We will be making a small storage chest with 2 drawers, this will be made from 2mm grey board and covered in paper.

There is a LOT of prep work needed for this – cutting the board and covering with paper takes a few hours.

After booking we will supply the templates and preparation instructions, we are happy to supply grey board @ 0.50p per sheet, you will need 9 sheets as a minimum, 10 is probably better, let us know if you wish to buy from us. Regards paper an estimate would be 20 sheets of A4. The prototype used normal origami paper and fancy 160 gsm paper.

Materials you need to supply

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT:

· Strong PVA glue for construction – bookbinding glue is better but very expensive.

· Pritt stick for covering with paper – you can also use strong PVA but it will crinkle thin paper

· Box cutter/Stanley knife

· Good sharp paper scissors

· Ruler

· Pencil

· Cutting board

· Metal cutting edge – ruler etc

· Paper to cover the board not thick paper, normal crafting paper but go easy on the glue.

· Beware of stripes unless you can match them they look bad

· Plain colours are good, but busy patterns are best, they can cover any little mistakes, don’t need to be matched or fussy cut.

· See step 3 point 2 and step 4 for more info about paper.

DESIRABLE EQUIPMENT:

· Book binding glue is best for the construction

· Brayer to ensure that there are no bubbles in the paper

· Bone folder

· Book binding multi tool

· Fine sand paper

· Rotary cutter for paper

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

· Right angled corners for holding things together

How it works:

We will detail any preparation work you need to do, a reminder e mail is sent 2 days before and again 2 hours before the session the session starts. The zoom link can be found by selecting your ticket on the app or online. If you have booked a kit (UK only) this will be posted around the 25th of the month before the session.

For those booking outside the UK you need to check for time differences.

If we don’t hold your address we need you to send it to info@reconnecting.org.uk before the cut off date for us to make kits. The cut off date is the 15th of the month before the session starts. No address = no kit.
