About this event

Following on from our successful June session on Models and AI, July’s 20:20 will take a deeper dive into predictive modelling in practice, specifically how off-the-shelf tools like Dataro are becoming more common across the charity sector, and what charities should consider when investing in them.

Dataro is now used by over 150 UK charities, and its growing presence reflects a wider shift in how data is being used to drive smarter fundraising decisions. We’ll be joined by Stuart Towell, Campaigns & Supporter Experience Manager at The Leprosy Mission, and Andrew Sargent, Head of Analysis at Sequoia Insights, who will share their experience of Dataro models to improve supporter selections and embed AI-driven decision-making across their fundraising programme.

This session will explore the real-world impact of adopting predictive models, what’s worked, what’s been difficult, and what others can learn from the journey. We’ll look at how to assess whether models are delivering value beyond traditional targeting approaches, and how different campaigns might require them to be used differently. We’ll also talk through the practicalities of adoption; how to build trust in model outputs, get organisational buy-in, and ensure your investment pays off. If you're looking to get more from predictive tools like Dataro, or simply want to hear how others are putting them to work, this is a session not to miss.

Read more about our speakers Stuart and Andrew below:

Stuart has worked in the charity sector for nearly 8 years, and is the Campaigns & Supporter Experience Manager at The Leprosy Mission. He describes himself as one of those interesting types of people who loves both words and numbers. He thinks and cares deeply. Stuart relishes the opportunity to champion the person behind a story and also the reader. He loves data, spreadsheets and formulas too!

At The Leprosy Mission, innovation is at the heart of what Stuart does. He believes that understanding the needs of individuals alongside relevant data analytics can lead to powerful strides forward. Stuart is constantly looking for ways to do things better and smarter. He is part of a team that has seen consistent growth over the last few years.

One day he hopes to write a bio that starts with 'Stuart was part of the team that helped to end leprosy forever!'

Andrew has worked at the intersection of data and the charity sector for over 15 years. He previously led analysis teams at Wood for Trees and the DMA award-winning agency Armadillo, before returning to focus fully on the third sector in his current role at Sequoia.

Along the way, Andrew has worked with charities both big and small in the UK, as well as gaining experience with major commercial clients. This blend of sectors has given him fresh perspectives and practical approaches that he now brings back to his work with charities, helping them get more from their data.

Passionate about making data and AI genuinely useful, Andrew is committed to helping fundraisers and marketers cut through complexity and use insight to drive smarter, more impactful decisions.
