The ISAF Sailing World Cup Weymouth and Portland, run in partnership by the RYA, ISAF and WPNSA as part of UK Sport’s Gold Events series, will welcome the world’s best Olympic and Paralympic Classes sailors back to the London 2012 waters from 8-14 June.
The event – the fourth leg of the six-stage ISAF world tour – will provide a superb opportunity to showcase elite sailing at its best to both a broadcast audience and live spectators – so make sure you’re in on the action by registering now for your free of charge tickets for the medal race day at WPNSA on Sunday 14 June!
By registering for a ticket, you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win the chance for two people to watch the final day’s action up close with a member of the British Sailing Team, or for two tickets for the America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth (23-26 July).
The Sailing World Cup series is undergoing a facelift this season, with April’s edition in Hyeres and the Weymouth and Portland events the first to operate under a new invitational system.
Some 40 boats in each of the Olympic Classes qualify via the world ranking list, or via specific qualification regattas, to ensure to an elite field and greater opportunities to showcase the top performers on their journeys towards Games glory.
The Weymouth and Portland regatta will also welcome top kiteboard racers to compete in an invitational event alongside the Olympic and Paralympic Classes.
WPNSA is opening its doors for fans to come into the venue throughout the competition days (10-14 June) and experience the event from the inside, with opportunities to rub shoulders with British Sailing Team stars and their international rivals.
Medal race day on Sunday 14 June will be accessible via free of charge ticket, where you can watch the final day’s action unfold with live racing footage, insight and analysis from expert commentators.
With sailing, windsurfing and SUP sessions also available on the final day through the OTC and the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre, plus bouncy castles, food and beverage outlets and much more, it’s a great family opportunity to support the very best of the British Sailing Team as they take on their medal rivals on home waters.
