2015 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition, London, 24th April – 10th May
The Sony World Photography Awards is the world’s largest photography competition, attracting the very best contemporary photographers who each offer a unique visual insight into the year gone by.
Join us at Somerset House, from 24 April – 10 May. A perfect London day out for families and lovers of art.
The extraordinary images in the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition, taken from the competition’s record-breaking 173,444 entries from 171 countries, have something to appeal to all tastes. From fine art landscape photography, to hard-hitting photojournalism, glossy commercial campaigns to simply stunning shots of everyday life, the images draw their inspiration from around the world and are taken by both professional photographers and enthusiasts.
The exhibition includes the winners and shortlisted photographers of the:
• 13 Professional categories
• 10 Open categories
• 3 Youth categories
• Mobile Phone competition
• Student Focus programme
Categories include: travel; nature & wildlife; current affairs; contemporary issues; landscape; still life; portraits; people; environment; sport; conceptual; campaign; arts & culture; split second; smile, panoramic; enhanced; low light and architecture.
It will also include an intimate display of the still images, books and films of the legendary Magnum photographer, Elliott Erwitt.
Elliott, the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Photography award this year, is one of the world’s greatest commercial and documentary photographers. Known globally for his often ironic black and white images of everyday life, Elliott is equally a master of capturing poetic and subtle beauty in both ordinary scenes and celebrity subjects.
Erwitt will be in London to collect his award and will take part in a rare public talk to coincide with the exhibition. For more details see below.
In addition, your exhibition ticket offers free entry to:
#FutureofCities, presented by Sony's Global Imaging Ambassadors and in collaboration with Panos Pictures – a special guest exhibition examining the mass urban shift of the global population in our major cities by photographers from world renowned photo agency, Panos Pictures
