MSS invites Boro fans to the fifth annual MSS Grant Harrison Pool Tournament hosted at the Hurricane Rooms near Kings Cross Station at 7.30pm on Thursday the 1st December 2016.
Our friend and MSS member Grant Harrison tragically died at the age of 36 on January 6th 2012 and will always be remembered for his indomitable personality.
The Grant Harrison Pool Tournament is an annual event for all Boro fans in the Capital. The tournament includes 4 groups of 6 players battling it out for 8 places in the quarter-finals, this is followed by the semi-finals before a best of three fiesta of pool in the grand final.
The winner takes home a hand crafted pool cue and the coveted Grant Harrison Trophy.
Previous winners and holders of the trophy include cool hand Luke Jo Thompson, key member of the MSS pool team and former midfield sensation, Grant Harrison's closest friend Paul ‘Digger’ De Graves, the Singapore sling Ash ‘ quiff’ Leek and the reigning champion and surprise package of 2015 Blair Boy Galbraith who destroyed Paul Ford in last years final. Some argued that the aggressive sound affects made by Blair Boy Galbraith as he circled the table give him an unfair advantage. One onlooker commented that he was like a Scottish bull, panting and sweating as he raged to glory. Some felt that the overly aggressive pool-side manner may have been a result of a real commitment to winning but post match blood tests revealed it was the 12 pints of lager and 3 jager bombs that did it.
If you want to join in the pool tournament to play a few games and meet like minds then buy your entry ticket below. Tickets cost £10: which covers cost of tables and a small donation to a charity of Paul De Graves (Grants best man and lifelong friend) choosing. Book quick as there are only 24 tickets available.
We look forward to seeing you there!
