CLIMATE INNOVATION LAB IN READING

Humanity finds itself at a defining crossroads in time. The “business-as-usual” choice leading rapidly to inhabitability and chaos, Climate change is our greatest menace, but also the greatest opportunity in history for profound regeneration towards a more inclusive, fair, and sustainable economy.

In 2015, the world leaders adopted the New Urban Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. One of its goals is to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

The role of the business in sustainable development is integral because it has future impacts in the resource-constrained economy. The Ecopreneurs for the climate in Reading pushing for innovation and compel transformation in the design of sustainable business solutions to climate-related challenges faced by the city and region of Reading, as well as companies and organizations within its ecosystem. There are also ecopreneurs who are driven by green values.

ECO4CLIM17, the official COP23 endorsed initiative, aims to promote ecopreneurs, strengthen local green economy ecosystem and boost sustainable business networks.
It is a week of activities held on October 16-22 in cities and communities across the world to support and strengthen local green economy ecosystems.



In the U.K, Ecopreneurs for the Climate in Reading, is organising ECO4CLIM17: Climate Innovation Lab, on Thursday 19th October at the Oakwood Centre from 1:00 pm -5:00 pm. The Climate Innovation lab in Reading will comprise multi-stakeholder co-creation by engaging ecopreneurs, civil society, and other key local actors (academia & research, financial institutions and investors, public agencies, media...) and the Climate Champion Award.

Anyone interested in the event is welcome to attend via registration. If you are an entrepreneur with green business solutions at the idea or project stage or an SME with a project that can reduce carbon emissions (mitigation) and help adapt to the effects of climate change (adaptation/resilience) then register to participate in the event.

The participants will pitch their business solutions or the project to the jury within Industry, energy, buildings, transport, agriculture, finance, water etc. for a chance to become Climate Champion. The winner will get nominated to participate in COP23 Climate Summit to be held in Bonn (Germany) on November 6-17.
