2017/18 London

Launch + Tutor Briefing

Tuesday 26 September 2017, from 2pm

The RSA, 8 John Adam Street, London, WC2N 6EZ

The RSA Student Design Awards (SDAs) is a design curriculum and competition that challenges university students to tackle social, environmental and economic issues through design thinking.

Join us at the RSA to hear from us and our industry sponsors about the 2017/18 RSA briefs (available online at www.thersa.org/sda from mid August), new developments to the programme, and the support we offer tutors and students.

You’re then invited to stay on for a keynote talk in the RSA’s Great Room by Sue Siddall, partner at IDEO, a global design consultancy committed to creating positive impact. This talk is open to the public, but anyone who attends the afternoon session and wishes to stay for the talk will be guaranteed entry.

2 – 6pm, Launch + Tutor Briefing

  • Welcome + introduction by Sevra Davis, Director of RSA Design

  • Update + what’s new for 2017/18, by Rebecca Ford, Manager of the SDAs

  • Presentation of the 2017/18 RSA briefs by our industry partners

  • Drinks with our industry partners

6 - 7pm, Talk: ‘The Power of Design Thinking’

  • Sue Siddall, Partner and Executive Managing Director of IDEO Europe, will explore the role of design thinking in fostering innovation and tackling global challenges

  • Audience Q&A, followed by a drinks reception

We hope to see you on 26 September,

RSA Student Design Awards

The RSA Student Design Awards (SDA) is the world’s longest standing, most pioneering design curriculum and competition for university students and new graduates, having run for over 90 years.

Each year we issue project briefs that challenge emerging designers to tackle social, environmental and economic issues through design thinking.

We work closely with industry partners to develop the briefs, we help colleges and universities embed them in their curricula, and we support participants through workshops and mentoring.

Award winners receive practical and financial support to launch their careers - including paid industry placements, mentoring from industry experts and connections to the RSA's global network of 27,000 Fellows.
