2019 EVOLTREE Governing Board meeting and Scientific Seminar
Event Information
Description
MONDAY September 16, Afternoon (14:00-17:00)
GOVERNING BOARD MEETING
At this new period for our network, our aim will be to focus on what is at the forefront of the members’ interests, considering the foreseen activities to implement and goals to achieve in the coming four years for discussion, debate and shared agreement.
TUESDAY September 17
SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR: GENETIC ADAPTATION RESEARCH FOR FUTURE FORESTS (9:00-13:00)
The EVOLTREE Scientific Seminar associated to the annual EVOLTREE Governing Board meeting and the 2019 EFI Annual Conference will explore the ways in which forest tree genetics can be applied to increase local adaptation and resilience in future forests.
New genetic and genomics approaches, including new-generation breeding strategies, have great potential to harness natural genetic variation to promote forest health and productivity, in particular in the face of global disturbances, such as climate change, land fragmentation and emerging pests and diseases.
Open call for oral contributions addressing a wide variety of topics related to the study of local adaptation in natural forests and applied breeding and genomics. Both communications presenting theoretical development in population genetics and breeding, and experimental research are welcome. Abstracts should be submitted by 25 July 2019 to: Claudia Antoniotti (claudia.antoniotti@efi.int)
Field trip (14:00 on)
